2. Hosting and server logs. This website is hosted by Squarespace (Squarespace Ireland Ltd. / Squarespace Inc., USA). When you visit the site, Squarespace automatically processes technical data (IP address, browser type, operating system, referring page, date and time of access) in server logs to deliver and secure the website. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating a secure, functional website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Squarespace may transfer data to the United States; transfers are safeguarded under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or standard contractual clauses. 3. Cookies. This site uses cookies that are technically necessary for its operation, and — with your consent — analytics cookies. Where consent is required, it is requested via the cookie banner and can be withdrawn at any time (legal basis: §25 TDDDG and Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR for consent-based cookies; Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR for essential ones).

4. Analytics. We use Squarespace Analytics to understand aggregate site usage (pages visited, approximate location, referral source, device type). We do not use this data to identify individual visitors. See Squarespace's privacy policy for details on their processing.

5. Newsletter and free tools. If you subscribe to our newsletter or unlock our free tools (e.g., the Financial Independence Calculator) with your email address, we store your email address to send you our newsletter with articles, updates, and occasional information about our own products and partnerships. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Sending is handled through Squarespace Email Campaigns. Every email contains an unsubscribe link; unsubscribing takes effect immediately and we then delete your address from the active mailing list. We measure aggregate open and click rates to improve the newsletter.

6. Comments. If you leave a comment on an article, we store the comment together with the name and email address you provide, to display the comment and prevent abuse. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in enabling reader discussion (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can request deletion of your comments at any time via the email above.

7. Affiliate links and partner programs. Some articles contain affiliate links to partner companies, always marked with an asterisk (*). Partner programs currently include Wise, operated through the Partnerize network (Performance Horizon Group Ltd., UK). These links contain a tracking parameter. When you click one, you are redirected to the partner's website, and the affiliate network may set a cookie or similar identifier on your device to attribute a possible sign-up or purchase to this website, allowing us to receive a commission. This tracking operates on the partner's and network's own domains and under their own responsibility; we receive only anonymized commission statistics and cannot identify who signed up. 8. Your rights. Under the GDPR you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and to object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority; the authority responsible for us is Die Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und für das Recht auf Akteneinsicht Brandenburg (LDA Brandenburg).

9. Data retention. We store personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above or as legally required, and delete it thereafter.
